Gareth and Paula met perchance at a garden party hosted by one of their friends in Ireland. Soon after, they started dating and realized something special and that they'd love to spend their lives together.

How did these two decide on South Africa for their elopement? Gareth grew up in Southern Africa and convinced Paula that they should plan a holiday to Cape Town. They fell in love again, not with each other per se, but with the beauty of the Winelands and the landscapes of Cape Town.

Once they started planning their wedding, they soon realized they would love to avoid any wedding stress and opted to elope. Knowing that an elopement would require a very special location, Cape Town made another appearance in their planning. A few weeks into planning their dream elopement, they decided to fast-track their date from 2020 to Dec 2019 and that Babylonstoren would be the perfect garden backdrop for their intimate vows.
